Have questions about DVM Launch? We’re here to help. Browse our frequently asked questions to learn more about the program and what to expect along the way.
DVM Launch is a network of seasoned, independently-practicing veterinarians dedicated to preparing the next generation of DVMs for success. We offer summer bootcamps and externships that give vet students real, hands-on clinical experience under the guidance of experienced mentors.
Our Bootcamp is an intensive 10–12 week summer program with structured labs, lectures, and in-hospital training. It’s designed to be a deep, immersive experience with compensation and housing options included.
Our Externships are shorter, more flexible rotations ranging from a few days to 4 weeks. They complement your existing clinical curriculum and are available at most of our partner locations across the country.
Programs are led by experienced veterinarians, specialists, and Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs) who are actively practicing at independently-owned clinics — not corporate chains.
The Bootcamp is open to 1st through 4th year veterinary students enrolled in an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Medical College.
Externships are available to 3rd and 4th year veterinary students only.
No prior experience is required — just enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and active participation. Our programs are built to meet you where you are.
Submit an application through our website. Once we receive it, we’ll reach out to schedule a phone call to learn more about you — your interests, goals, and preferred location or specialty.
After your application comes in, we’ll set up a quick phone call to get to know you. Based on your goals and interests, we’ll personally match you with the clinic that’s the best fit. You won’t just be assigned a random location — we take the time to make sure it’s right for both you and the practice.
Most locations accept only 1–2 students at a time, so the experience is personal and mentor-focused — not a large group rotation.
Students are scheduled up to 40 hours per week in the hospital, with additional time for labs, lectures, and TNR (trap-neuter-return) days. There are occasional evening and weekend shifts. Students pursuing ECC experience will also have overnight shift opportunities.
